Some 30 Graves County High School students who are members of their chapter of Future Business Leaders of America recently toured New York City. They saw sights, including the top of the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall (where they met a Rockette), the play Mamma Mia on Broadway, shopping on Fifth Avenue and in Chinatown, strolling through Central Park, visiting Wall Street and the 9/11 Memorial, and (as shown here) ferrying out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island,. Sophomore Audrie Lamb found the view at the top of the Empire State Building and the city scene below to be “such a humbling experience.” GCHS business teacher and FBLA advisor Mechelle Gattis told Eagle’s Eye newspaper staff writer Jillian Winn, “New York is just the greatest city in the world. I try to take FBLA groups every four years, so that members have at least one chance to visit it during their high school career. This was my fourth trip with FBLA to New York and it was the best one yet!” To see the student newspaper’s on-line edition, including the story “Eagles take Manhattan,” log on to http://gchseagleseye.com/.
