Dana Shemberger, a residence of Big Bear Road in Marshall County Ky, is a true ice angel. Our power went out early in the morning, and my daughter and I were trying to find somewhere to stay, where we could take our puppy. I called Dana to tell her what had happened and what I was doing, and she invited me and my daughter, and our puppy, to come stay with her and her son and their dogs. We went to her house, and within the hour, her power went out too. We were sleeted in, and trying to run a generator that would support just the electric logs, the tv and the refrigerator, and keep the dogs and the kids from killing each other and tracking in mud and sleet - on her white carpet. Then her neighbor and his wife came over, and they had run out of kerosene and money and his company was closed down in Mayfield so he couldn't go pick up the check. Not only did she invite them over, but she let them have money to buy gas and kerosene. She paid for the gas for the generator and wouldn't accept any help. She just laughed when our puppy wet her white carpet. She was a gracious hostess, even moving the gas grill into her foyer to cook grilled cheese and soup on. She didn't ask for any money back, or any money on the generator. She let us eat her food, and she was very calm and sweet during the whole experience (which had me about to cry!). I know she was stressed, because we would lay there at night and listen to her tree limbs break and fall and hit things on her house, garage, and property. She let us stay with her for a week. Then, the day her power came back on, she washed all our laundry while I was at work. She is the greatest!
