Dr. Seuss claimed, “You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” I would agree. Daniel would probably say he likes his sleep. Either way, I think we’d both agree we share something exceptional.
Daniel is a hard-working recent college graduate with a lot on his plate, yet always finds a way to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world. He makes me laugh: Getting in full character dressed as a cow for Halloween (including moo-ing and crossing the road on all fours), pulling me on to the empty dance floor to dance to 50’s music for my sorority social, and making me read to him while secretly scoping out licenses plates for an intensely competitive License Plate Game between the two of us. I cherish these fun times that we’ve had together and way we can communicate with a glance or symbol in sign language.
As a current senior in college, I found a paper from my freshman year on the things I wish to accomplish in the next five years, including finding love. I was single, hopeless, and decided to set high standards for any man I date. I look back and realize that Daniel has met all of my criteria.
Someone who shares my love to travel: Check.
A man who makes me giggle: Check.
Someone who can support a family without my income: Check.
And most importantly, a man who loves God more than me: Check.
I am truly thankful for the sweet, hard-working man that God gave me and all of the fun adventures we’ve shared. Even though this is only our second Valentine’s Day to share, I look forward to our future together and am sure he will give me even more reasons to call him the best Valentine.
