My mother was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois, in 1931 and came from a family of 14 siblings. She married at a young age and had 3 children of her own. She is a Godly woman and loves us all. I was born here in Paducah, Ky, and was raised in Benton, Ky. She always thought of our needs before her own and has worked very hard to make sure all our needs were met. She loved the Lord and we went to church every Sunday. She worked hard in our 2 acre yard, tended to a huge garden for years, and always had 3 home cooked meals with delicious homeade pies. She took good care of my wonderful father and still had time to rub my legs and feet every night. Even through all her surgeries and pain she managed to always put us first. My mother is now a beautiufl 78 year old lady and life has taken it's toll on her, and her health is making it very hard for her to get around now. Strong she's been her whole life and now so fragile, so delicate, yet strong she remains. I dedicate this poem to her.
My mother, my China Doll,
Tiny and fragile she is to me,
Eyes of green, Oh how they sparkle,
With a smile that's beautiful to see.
My mother, my China Doll,
A Godly woman she's always been;
Always there to love and listnen,
Even when my life was full of sin,
I love my mother, my China Doll,
Memories of you will always remain;
You've always been courageous and strong,
Even though your life has been full of pain.
I'm so very thankful to God,
My mother, my China Doll you are;
No matter what we face in life,
Our love will be close, never far.
My mother, my China Doll,
With her heart full of love;
She's handed it down to me,
like a peaceful, gentle dove.
