My Mom and Dad

My Mom, My Angel, My best friend

My mother is the glue that holds my family together. Since she became pregnant with me at the young age of 16, she has done nothing but sacrifice. She started by sacrificing her youth to have and raise me. My “father” couldn’t handle the responsibility and left us when I was just a baby. My Mom worked 2 jobs and went to school to make a future for us. When I was 5 my Mom met my step father and moved us to Kentucky. They just celebrated their 31st Anniversary. My mom ended up with 3 girls. She worked as many as 3 jobs at one time to make sure we had everything we needed. Sometimes she would cry at night she was so tired, but she was always happy in front of us. My mom always had her mother to depend on to talk to, but at the young age of 62, colon cancer claimed my grand-mother. This is the one event that devastated my mom, and every year, Mother’s Day is very hard for her.

In 1998 my Dad had a horse accident that disabled him. He could no longer work, and my mom just once again picked up the slack.

2 years ago, my niece Tiffany, who was 15 at the time, needed a stable home. Without hesitation, my mom took her in and has raised her ever since. She does the cooking, cleaning, takes care of my dad and niece, and still works 10-12 hours a day without complaint. I know she has been tired her whole life, and the only person she has ever neglected is herself. This Mother’s Day, I would love for my Mom, Glenda Myers, to finally get the recognition she has deserved her whole life. She actually has a fan club on her website. She is loved by so many. Her work with horses over the years, and her ability to make others happy is so apparent to all who meet her. I am so blessed to call her my Mom.
