After years of trying to have children and multiple miscarriages, my Mother and Father adopted my brother and myself at the age of 48 years old. We both were one at the time of adoption. In less than a year, my Father died of pneumonia leaving my Mother to raise two toddlers by herself at a time when she should be getting ready for retirement. This was a very trying and difficult task for her but she persevered. She has been a loving and devoted Mother through all her trials and tribulations. She has sacrificed and gone without just to see that we received what we needed. She is very unselfish and will give herself, her time and her home to all in need. She has also helped raise several nieces and nephews that needed a place to stay. In 1987 I lost my husband to a drunk driver. I had a seven year old son and was also three months pregnant. My 74 year old Mother stayed with me over a year just to get me through this devastating time. Now at the age of 96, she is still the same loving, caring and unselfish Mother that would give her life for her children. My Mother is the ultimate proof that you don’t have to birth a child to be a loving and nourishing Mother. She is also a wonderful Grandmother and Great Grandmother! She makes a positive and loving impact on everyone she touches. God truly sacrificed an angel to give me the most wonderful Mother in the world! To say she deserves to be honored on Mother’s Day is an understatement. She is the most terrific, kind and humble person you would ever want to meet. What a blessing she is! Please make her day and select her as the Area’s Best Mom!
