I am no writer, but I thought I had to share this because my mother is very deserving of this prize. All mothers are special all mothers are the best, but my mother no matter what has always been there. Me my husband and two of my children recently moved 800 miles away from home just so we could be closer to my mother and she can have time to get to know her grandchildren. Most of my mothers life she has suffered from an incurable disorder called Hidradenitis suppurativa which causes painful lesions to present themselves around certain areas of the body. This disorder also causes severe depression as well as anxiety. My mother was diagnosed about 25 years ago and she has never let her condition hold her back from being the best mother she could be. As a teen she always supported all the sports that I did taking me to and from practices every day. Working several jobs to pay for all of my sports and volunteering at the school and at the athletic association to help out with anything concerning me and my brothers. She kept us in a clean home and taught us all the importance of family, and the importance of faith. She has been a positive influence on me she has made me believe that nothing can hold me back. It is her strength that has made me the woman I am today. Though she has had to overcome her disorder, she has also had to overcome a destructive relationship, several severe car accidents and even more medical problems. This past December my mother was diagnosed with COPD just another condition to add to her already lengthy list of medical problems and even though she found out the news that she has a limited time left to live she is striving to make that time memorable. In January I had surgery and she helped to take care of me. She is constantly spending time with her grandchildren and plays with them to the best of her ability.Even to this day as her health continues to deteriorate she continues to have the strength to keep it altogether. She may not have much money, she may not be able to do much, but she does have a lot of love and she shows it to us all each and everyday. I have never been able to Thank my mother enough and even if she wins this it will not be a big enough "Thank You" but at least she will know that I am proud to call her my mother and I am glad that she has taught me everything I know, and I hope I am just as good a mother to my children as she has been to me.
My mother a wonderful influence.
