Paducah Swim Team makes a splash in Cape

PADUCAH, Kentucky – The Paducah Swim Team traveled to Cape Girardeau to compete in their first long-course meet of the season. Two swimmers brought home third-place honors for the whole meet in their age group: Ian Pitt, 10 of Paducah, KY and Logan Oatman, 13 of Paducah, KY. The team went into this meet not really knowing what to expect at a long-course meet and left the meet accomplishing many great things.
The team had 10 new state cuts. Katherine Culbertson, 14 of Paducah, KY in the 100 backstroke, and 100 freestyle, Logan Oatman in the 1500 freestyle and 800 freestyle (based off his split in the 1500), Ian Pitt in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, and Kelsey Stevens, 12 of Paducah, KY in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle.
The next meet that the Paducah Swim Team will be participating is in Carbondale, IL on May 21-23. At this meet the swimmers will have another chance to get better times and possibly have more qualifiers for state and even sectionals.
