Southern Illinois soldier killed in Afghanistan
A soldier from southern Illinois was killed over the weekend while serving in Afghanistan.
The U.S. Department of Defense says 20-year-old Tyler Iubelt of Tamaroa, Illinois, and another soldier was killed on Saturday when an improvised explosive device detonated.
The attack was at the Bagram Air Base in Bagram, Afghanistan.
Iubelt was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army and was serving as part of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
