KSP releases name of Mayfield officer involved in shooting

The Kentucky State Police has released the name of the Mayfield police officer involved in the shooting of a Hickory man on Friday.

KSP says Lt. Daniel Crofoot is on paid administrative leave while troopers investigate the shooting. Troopers say Crofoot has been with the Mayfield Police Department for 16 years. The man who was shot is 23-year-old Andrew Chamberlain of Hickory.

Chamberlain was shot after Mayfield police got a report about 3 a.m. on Friday of a man with a gun in the 800 block of West Lee Street. Police said they found Chamberlain when they got to the scene, and he matched the suspect description. Soon after Chamberlain was found, he was shot.

KSP says Chamberlain is still at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, in stable condition.
