Cairo, IL bridge over Mississippi River back open

UPDATE: All lanes of the US 62/Ohio River Scenic Byway bridge are now open.


ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL — A bridge connecting southern Illinois to Missouri is partially closed.

Illinois State Police say the southbound lane of the US 62/Ohio River Scenic Byway bridge is blocked because a semi trailer has lost part of its load on the bridge.

No word if anyone was injured.

The bridge connects Cairo, Illinois with Missouri over the Mississippi River.

The southbound lane will be closed until further notice.
