Super Bowl LII brings 47.4 rating for NBC

(NBC) — Preliminary ratings for Super Bowl LII show a slight dip in viewers from last year.

The Nielsen Company says the Super Bowl brought in an overnight rating of 47.4 for NBC.

Neilsen looks at the percentage of households watching in 56 US markets to come up with the average. That means 47.4% of households in those 56 markets tuned into the big game on Sunday night.

The rating does not take into account digital viewers or people watching from places such as bars, restaurants, and Super Bowl parties.

The number is slightly down from the 48.4 overnight rating from last year’s Super Bowl, but it still ranks ninth among all Super Bowls.

The rating peaked at 52.2 in the fourth quarter of the game.
