Missing Hickman Police Officer found dead in flooded field

HICKMAN, KY – Hickman Police Officer Rodney Smith, 45, of Boaz, Kentucky was found dead around 5 AM Saturday morning after he was reported missing Friday night.

His body was found in the flooded field off Bernal Avenue in Hickman. His police cruiser was also found there. Smith was pronounced dead by the Fulton County Coroner. He says preliminary autopsy reports show Smith died from drowning.

Kentucky State Police were called to Bernall Avenue in Hickman City at about 9:15 Friday night.
