Paducah’s former Section 8 coordinator pleads not guilty to embezzlement charge
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY- Danny Fugate, former Section 8 Housing Coordinator with the city of Paducah, was arraigned in McCracken County Court Thursday.
He is charged with theft by unlawful taking of more than $10,000 from a local endowment scholarship fund. He pleaded not guilty to that charge.
Fugate was the treasurer for the McCracken County Community Career Endowment and he is accused of taking the money from their fund. The MCCCE provides scholarships for minority students.
The city of Paducah spokeswoman Pam Spencer said Fugate retired a few weeks ago from his Section 8 Housing Coordinator position. When we first reported his arrest, the city suspended him.
Fugate is not being held in jail. He will be in court for a preliminary hearing on April 12 at 1:00 p.m. in district court.
