District attorney seeking death penalty in deputy shooting

UPDATE: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation plans to held a news conference about Wiggins arrest at 10:30 a.m. CST. You can watch it here.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Wiggins was found near the tree line along Stinson Road, which is near the Dickson County-Hickman County line.

Investigators say the trooper approached Wiggins and when he noticed when it was Wiggins, he arrested him without any issues.



DICKSON COUNTY, TN- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Steve Wiggins has been arrested. District Attorney Ray Crouch Jr. says he will seek the death penalty for him and the woman accused of being his accomplice.

Wiggins is charged with the murder of Dickson County Sargent Daniel Baker. He was found dead Wednesday morning, spurring a nationwide search.

We are waiting on the TBI to give more details about the arrest.

Erika Castro-Miles

Wiggins is the second person arrested in connection to Baker’s death.  Wednesday night the TBI announced they arrested Erick Castro-Miles and charged her with first degree murder. Investigators have not released details about their investigation into her possible involvement to the shooting, but say she is acquainted with Wiggins.
