Birth of Kentucky treasurer’s son makes history

FRANKFORT, KY — Kentucky Treasurer Allison Ball is the first state constitutional officer to give birth while in office. She gave birth to her son, Levi Adrian Swan, on Tuesday.

Al Cross, a journalism professor at the university of Kentucky, confirmed that she’s the first to give birth while in office. Ball says that she and the new baby are doing well.

She’s also currently the nation’s youngest female statewide elected official.

Ball’s husband is Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Chief of Staff Asa James Swan. The cabinet tweeted a photo Thursday congratulating the new parents on the birth of their first child.
