UPDATE: 3 people injured in fireworks explosion in Lyon County

LYON COUNTY, KY — We now know three people were injured when a fireworks display exploded in Lyon County, Kentucky on Saturday night.

Witnesses say a local business hosts the fireworks show every year; but this time, something went wrong.

Lyon County Emergency Manager Dale Hawkes says the fireworks were under the legal limit, which means the business didn’t need a permit to shoot them off.

Hawkes says one person was taken to the Vanderbilt Burn Center in Nashville. He says the other two people were treated at local hospitals. No word yet on their conditions.

The investigation continues in to what caused the explosion.
