Local woman charged with husband’s murder

JACKSON COUNTY, IL — A DeSoto, Illinois woman has been indicted for the murder of her husband.

On October 29, 2017, 76-year-old Frank Stonemark was strangled to death by 52-year-old James Michael Deese.

Deese has pleaded guilty to killing Frank and is awaiting sentencing.

According to Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr, Frank’s wife, 54-year-old Carmen Stonemark, asked Deese to kill Frank. 

On Wednesday, Carmen was indicted on two first degree murder charges, a solicitation of murder charge, concealment of a homicidal death, and concealment of death.

She is currently in the Jackson County Jail with a bond set at $2.5 million.
