MAYFIELD, KY — A Mayfield man was arrested after a young boy was found alone in a field.

Just before 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Kentucky State Police were called about a one-year-old boy alone in a field on Old Dublin Road.

Troopers arrived on scene and a neighbor showed them the house where the child lives. The door to the home was wide open.

Troopers entered the home to conduct a welfare check after no one would come to the door and found 29-year-old Nathan Taylor of Mayfield asleep.

Taylor was hard to wake, but once he awoke, he said the child was his. He gave troopers permission to search his home.

Troopers found small amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Graves County Jail. The child was given to a relative.
