Crash hazard prompts John Deere recall of Gator utility vehicles

Recalled XUV590 S4 Gator

John Deere is recalling more than 4,000 of it’s Gator utility vehicles sold in the United States because of a hardware problem that could cause crashes.

The manufacturer is recalling about 4,700 XUV590 and XUV590 S4 Gator utility vehicles sold in the U.S., along with about 200 that were sold in Canada.  They were sold from September 2017 through August 2018 for between $10,000 and $13,000.

The issue? The powertrain hardware can come loose, causing the throttle to stick. If that happens, the driver might be unable to stop the utility vehicle and could crash.

John Deere says it is conducting the voluntary recall after receiving two reports of the throttle cable sticking. No injuries have been reported, but the company says owners should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles. Ifyou own one of them, you can contact an authorized John Deere dealer for a free inspection and repair. John Deere also says it’s contacting all known buyers directly.
