PADUCAH — You can now receive notifications on your phone if an inmate escapes from Keeton Corrections Paducah.

The facility serves as a halfway house for inmates on parole, but some have violated their terms. The surrounding neighborhood has gotten even more concerned after 136 parolees walked away in 2017 and 2018. One inmate recently escaped. Some of these men committed crimes afterwards.

When Charles Richards escaped in August, the public was not notified for several hours. Since then, Paducah City and McCracken County leaders have been looking for solutions.

McCracken County Commissioner Bill Bartleman says he was told Friday night Keeton Corrections Paducah has been added to Kentucky’s AlertXpress automated telephone notification system. The system will notify subscribers if an inmate escapes and when that inmate in back in custody.
