Murray State police: Student charged with making false report
UPDATE 10/8/2018: University police at a local college say an alleged robbery on campus did not happen the way the student reported it.
A robbery was reported by a Murray State University student Sunday night. Monday afternoon, the Murray State Police Department says it has found that the robbery — which the student said happened in the Stewart Stadium parking lot — did not happen.
Murray State police say the student has been charged with falsely reporting an incident, and the investigation is concluded.
Police stress that people in the Murray State community should never hesitate to contact them upon seeing something suspicious or when help is needed.
MURRAY, KY — Murray State University Police responded to a robbery Sunday night just after 9 p.m., according to MSU’s RacerAlert system.
MSU Police asked for students to stay out of the area and stated that emergency responders were on the scene.
The suspect was a male wearing dark clothing and armed with a pocket knife. He was last seen running towards the CFSB Center.
Officers have since completed their search and notified students that the suspect appeared to have left the area.
