Michael’s death toll rises to 11, including 5 dead in Virginia

A home moved off its foundation and deposited into a hotel along Highway 98 in Mexico Beach.

(CNN) — Five deaths related to Michael have been reported in Virginia, the state’s Department of Emergency Management said on Twitter on Friday morning.

That brings the total number of US deaths related to the storm to at least 11.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long said he expects the US death count to climb Friday and Saturday as searchers sift through debris.
