U.S. 51 back open after crash involving vehichle carrying blood samples south of Clinton, KY
UPDATE: U.S. 51 south of Clinton is back open after crews had to clear a bio-hazard that was in a vehicle involved in a crash there.
The crash happened near the 4 mile marker before 8:40 a.m. Monday. A vehicle involved was carrying blood samples, and an environmental clean-up crew had to help with the cleanup.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the crash site was cleared around 5:28 p.m. Monday.
UPDATE: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says one of cars involved in the crash was carrying blood samples.
Due to that a clean-up crew will have to help clean up the crash site.
That means the road is expected to be blocked until approximately 4 p.m.
A couple detours have been set up.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says both north and southbound lanes of US 51 is blocked between KY 780 and KY 1529.
Drivers should avoid the area.
