Deputies: 3 arrested after man was kidnapped and beaten in Tennessee
WEAKLEY COUNTY, TN — Three 18-year-old men were arrested in Weakley County, Tennessee, Friday after investigators say a 19-year-old man was kidnapped and beaten.
The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office says a 19-year-old Dresden, Tennessee, man suffering from head trauma flagged down a driver on Highway 89 between Dresden and Sheron around 7:30 a.m. Friday. The driver called authorities for help, and deputies and an ambulance responded. The man was taken to Volunteer Hospital in Martin.
Deputies say three men took the victim to a shed behind a home on Highway 89 where he was held against his will. They say the man was tied to a chair with zip ties, blindfolded and hit over the head with a wooden table leg. Deputies say the assailants then drove off, leaving the man in the shed. The man was able to get a lighter from his pants and burn through the zip ties, deputies say, and escaped by kicking tin off of the shed. That’s when he flagged down the driver.
The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office got a search warrant for the home where the man was held, and the three suspects drove up to the house while the search was being carried out. Investigators say the three fled in a silver Honda Civic. Deputies gave chase, and the suspects surrendered on Hilltop Road after leading deputies through several back roads south of Martin.
The three suspects — Christian James Allen, Trever James Bradberry, and Cody Wayne Brown — were arrested and charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and evading arrest. Bradberry was also charged with marijuana possession with intent to resell because investigators say they found marijuana, baggies and digital scales during the search of the home. Investigators also note that Allen was out of jail on bond for an incident in Dresden in September in which he he fired a gun at someone.
