Police searching for suspect after 7-year-old girl shot to death in Texas

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KPRC-TV ) — Authorities in Texas are searching for the person who shot and killed a 7 year old while she was in a car.

It happened around 7 a.m. Sunday near a Walmart in Harris County.

A car carrying five people was pulling out of the parking lot when someone in a red pickup truck drove by and began shooting.

The driver of the car, 30-year-old LaPorsha Washington pulled off and eventually made a U-turn.

When police arrived they found 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes dead at the scene.

Washington, who is Jazmine’s mother, was also shot.

She was taken to the hospital. Three other children were also in the vehicle but were not hurt.

The shooter is described as a white male in his 40s with a beard. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie.
