Tractor driver injured after semi crash

SALINE COUNTY, Ill. — A tractor driver had to be transported by Life Flight after a semi-truck failed to reduce its speed on US 45.

The driver of the tractor was traveling southbound on US 45 in the right lane at a slow speed. The driver of the semi-truck was also traveling southbound on US 45 in the same lane at a higher speed.

The driver of the semi claims he was distracted after dropping his e-cigarette device.

The semi-truck struck the tractor in the rear, overturning it.

The driver of the tractor was injured and was transported to a local hospital by Life Flight. The semi-truck driver was uninjured.

ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash by Saline County Sheriff’s Office, the Saline County Ambulance Service and Life Flight.
