February SNAP benefits being issued early in Illinois

CHICAGO, IL — February Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be issued early in Illinois.

The benefits are usually issued in the first few days of the month, but will be issued instead to Illinois residents on or before January 20.

This is about a week and a half earlier than usual.

The Illinois Department of Human Services says that the February benefits must be issued early because of the way the USDA has funded them.

Those who receive SNAP benefits will receive the normal amount of monthly benefits on their cards.
