Ambulance wreck results in injury
PADUCAH, KY. — At least four people were taken to the hospital Saturday night after a wreck involving an ambulance.
The wreck occurred on Joe Clifton Dr. and Jackson St. near Red’s Donut Shop in Paducah.
The wreck involved a car and an ambulance with emergency responders inside.
Sergeant William Hodges with Paducah Police could not confirm who hit who.
One person was unconscious when police arrived and all involved were taken to hospitals for precaution.
UPDATE (1/13/2019) — The ambulance involved in the collision was a Mayfield Fire Department Ambulance. The driver confirmed that the lights, siren, and airhorn on the vehicle was activated when trying to clear an intersection with a red light.
The driver of the car involved in the accident told officers he had a green light and did not see or hear the ambulance before proceeding through the intersection. The driver and three passengers in the car were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One of the passengers was later flown to a Nashville hospital for further treatment.
Mercy Regional assisted Mayfield Fire Department in transporting the patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported to any of the occupants of the ambulance.
The Paducah Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate.
