Carbondale Women’s Center Taste of Chocolate celebrates 20 years

CARBONDALE,IL — It’s almost time for one of the sweetest fundraisers of the year. The Carbondale Women’s Center’s annual Taste of Chocolate Fundraiser is celebrating 20 years on Friday.

Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on gift baskets and other prizes while snacking on all things chocolate. All money raised will go to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Women’s Center Development Specialist John Pfeifer said the center could not help victims without the support of the community.

“All of our services are free and confidential. They’re free, but they’re not inexpensive. And it’s our local donors who help us pay for our services and the counseling. Women, men, adolescents, and children — we serve all these people throughout southern Illinois,” said Pfeifer.

Last year, the event raised $40,000. The center expects to hit that goal again this year. Monday, it’s not too late to get your ticket. Doors open at 6 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Carbondale Civic Center. For more information or to buy a ticket, visit thewomensctr.org/index.php/taste-of-chocolate-2019
