I-24 west closing overnight for Tennessee River bridge repairs
MARSHALL COUNTY, KY — The westbound lanes of the Interstate 24 Tennessee River bridge at the Livingston County, Marshall County line will be closed overnight Friday.
The closure — at the 30 mile marker of I-24 west — will start around 10 p.m. Friday night. The roadway will re-open around 7 a.m. Saturday, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says.
It’s the second of four overnight closures as a long-running repair project continues on the bridge. The first of this series was last month on the eastbound side of the bridge. The eastbound side is open, and Friday night’s westbound closure won’t affect eastbound traffic.
During the I-24 west closure, workers will be pouring concrete so new joints can be installed on that side of the bridge.
KYTC says drivers will detour via the Kentucky 453 Grand Rivers exit 31 interchange, take KY 453 southbound to U.S. 62 westbound, and return to I-24 at the U.S. 62 Calvert City exit 27 interchange.
