2/10 Racer Rewind

The Murray State Racers picked up two hard fought wins against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville at home to remain in a tie for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Against Eastern Illinois, the Panthers led the Racers by seven points with just nine minutes left in the game. However, the Murray State would close the game on a 22-4 run to pick up the 86-75 win.

Darnell Cowart led the Racers with a career high 23 points and 12 rebounds.

“We just wanted to keep going,” Cowart said about the Racers’ late rally. “We just wanted to play harder. So we just came out and rebounded and defended and played harder.”

On Saturday night, Murray State trailed SIU Edwardsville by six at the half, only to pick up an 86-55 win.

The Racers outscored the Cougars 54-17 in the second half in one of their best defensive efforts of the season. Ja Morant finished the game with 20 points and six assists.
