Child found naked running in field in Williamson County, IL

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL — A young child was found running in an open field without any clothes on Tuesday morning in Williamson County, Illinois.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office was called around 7:00 a.m. by the person who found the three-year-old child. The caller placed the kid in their car to protect them from the weather.

The child was not hurt and taken to the Cambria Police Department.

The parents were found at their home, near where the child had been found. They were unaware that the child had left home.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was called. After interviewing the parents and other children living in the home, DCFS “took steps to ensure the future safety of the children.”

An investigation by DCFS is ongoing.

Correction: We had incorrectly identified the child as a boy in earlier versions of this story.
