Arrest made in Sikeston, Missouri, murder investigation
SIKESTON, MO — Ten days after a deadly shooting in Sikeston, Missouri, police say they have arrested a suspect.
A 24-year-old man was shot late the night of Feb. 18. On Feb. 28, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety announced anther 24-year-old man has been charged with his murder.
As Local 6 previously reported, the man’s body was found in the 800 block of William Street in Sikeston. The DPS says the victim is Marcus Dixon.
In a news release, Capt. Austin Henley says Cornelius Perkins of Charleston, Missouri, was arrested Thursday on charges of first degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Henley says Perkins is being held without bond. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and charges may be made. If you have information about the shooting, police ask you to call the Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711.
