Coroner: missing teen died of hypothermia

GALLATIN COUNTY, IL – Gallatin County Coroner Tony Cox confirms that 20-year-old Brooke Naylor died of hypothermia due to exposure. He said he is waiting for the toxicology report to come back to finalize his report. That could take four weeks.

Illinois State Police say her body was found on March 8th.

Police say Naylor is from Harrisburg, Illinois. She was last seen in Harrisburg on March 3, 2019. Her Chevrolet Malibu was found abandoned on the Eldorado Ridgeway Blacktop about halfway between Illinois Route 142 and Illinois Route 1.

On Friday, March 8, 2019 at about 5:40 P.M., someone with the search team found Naylor’s body south of Pot Hole Lane in rural Gallatin County.

ISP is still investigating. In a Facebook post, they said “The Illinois State Police and the family would like to thank all of the numerous volunteers for the generous donation of their time and resources during this exhaustive search.”
