Eastbound I-24 in Marshall County reopened after crash

UPDATE: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says both east and westbound lanes of I-24 at the 21 mile marker are now open.

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY — A portion of eastbound Interstate 24 is blocked due to an overnight crash.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says three semis and a car crashed on I-24 eastbound at the 21 marker.  This is just a few miles past exit 16 to Reidland.

The heavy rain has hampered the cleanup process and so far only one of the semi trucks has been removed.

Because of that, both eastbound lanes are blocked at the crash site. Eastbound traffic is being detoured via Exit 16 to US 68 North onto US 62 East and back to I-24 at Calvert City Exit 27.

Westbound traffic is also down to one lane due to the crash.

The lanes are expected to be blocked until about 8:00 a.m. We’ll keep you updated on air and online.
