Coach charged with attacking local referee
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — A local referee is recovering after being punched and knocked out by a coach.
Around 10:42 p.m. Saturday, McCracken County deputies were called to the Paducah Regional Sports Plex on report of an assault.
Deputies say the coach, 40-year-old Keyon Menifield, from Flint, Michigan was arguing with Kenny Culp when Culp turned to walk away.
As he did, Menifield punched him, knocking him unconscious.
Menifield left before deputies arrived. He was located at a local hotel and arrested.
Menefield was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail and charged with assault of a sports official.
