Local Scouts clean up Land Between The Lakes

Scouts BSA troops clean up LBL.

GOLDEN POND, KY – Local Scouts BSA troops picked up trash and learned some valuable lessons on Saturday. This was during their spring Camporee.

The clean up effort is a part of their 6th annual conservation clean up at Land Between The Lakes. They focused on the Nickell Branch area of LBL.

Scout Master John Baker says this day teaches many lessons. “It goes in line with what we’re trying to do in scouts,” Baker said. “Promote good citizens, helping out others, giving back to your community. So we try and find an activity where we’re able to give back outside of the scouting community.”

They didn’t know the exact amount of trash that they picked up on Saturday, but Baker says in past years they usually pick up about 2,000 to 3,000 pounds.
