Sheriff’s office looking for person who taped a puppy’s snout closed in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after someone taped a puppy’s snout closed and taped his back legs together.

The 6- to 9-month-old Labrador and great Dane mix was found Tuesday, a McCracken County Sheriff’s Department news release says, and the person who found the puppy reported the abuse to McCracken County Animal Control.

The sheriff’s department says the puppy — who has been given the name Hero — was able to get his legs free on his own, but his mouth was still taped shut. Investigators say whoever did this dropped Hero off in the area of Rice Springs and Woodville Road.

Hero is under medical care at the McCracken County Humane Society, and the sheriff’s office has opened an animal cruelty investigation to find the person or people responsible.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about the case to call 270-444-4719.
