Storms damage properties in Georgia
WILMINGTON ISLAND, GA — Much of the United States is recovering from storms that swept through the nation last week.
Several properties suffered damage from severe weather in Wilmington Island, Georgia. The area was under a tornado warning when a boat at a yacht club was flipped on its side. First responders asked people to stay indoors and seek shelter anyway they could.
Wilmington Island resident David Dougal had other means of finding shelter.
“It passed through when I was sitting in my car, then I got the alarm on the phone,” Dougal said. “My wife called me and I said ‘it’s only a warning, don’t worry about it,’ and she said, ‘no, we got hit by CVS.'”
No major injuries were reported in that area. The storm system is now making its way through the Northeast.
