Friends and family gather to remember DeCora Alexander

MARTIN, TN — Friends and family are remembering DeCora Alexander for her big smile and love for people.

Alexander was found stabbed to death on Saturday at the home of her ex-boyfriend, Toney Mosley, in Union City. Mosley was also found with stab wounds, and was taken to the hospital to be treated.

Thursday, friends and family remembered Alexander with a candlelight vigil at the University of Tennessee Martin, where she was a student.

Alexander’s uncle, Terill Taylor, says she will be greatly missed by their entire family. “She was the heart and soul of our family, you know? She always had a smile on her face, you know — just a good person inside and out,” says Terill Taylor.

Alexander was on the dance team at UT Martin. Several of her teammates released balloons to remember her Thursday. There were 20 purple and white balloons released to help bring awareness to domestic violence.

Alexander’s family says, as painful as this is, they hope her story might help save someone in a similar situation.

A visitation will be held at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Another visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Kingdom Harvest Church in South Fulton, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
