LYON COUNTY, KY — A heartwarming photo was captured in the wake of a terrible crash.

Lyon County State Highway crews are helping to clean up a deadly crash on eastbound I-24 in Lyon County.

The crash happened near exit 40, killing one person.

Another man was trapped and his dog wouldn’t leave his side.

To help out, Fire Marshal Bill Compton comforted and cared for the dog while crews worked to get the man out.

This photo of Bill comforting the dog was taken after the man was freed and airlifted away. No word on the condition of that man at this time.

The crash site is not expected to be cleared until about 2:00 p.m. We’ll be posting updates here.
