Second annual Junior Roller Derby Tournament comes to Paducah

PADUCAH — On June 8th and 9th, the West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers Junior Derby League will host the second annual junior roller derby tournament.

The round robin style tournament will take place at Kingsway Skateland in Paducah with teams coming from across the country.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, and admission is $20. A two-day pass is $25.

The tournament, “Clash of the Titans on Wheels, Episode II,” is a sequel of last year and features five teams who will compete to raise their national ranking.

The teams include Columbia Junior Rollers from South Carolina, Topeka Chickwhips from Kansas, IC Bruisers from Iowa, Black and Blue Gems from Kentucky and Ohio and the West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers from Paducah, Kentucky.

Each team will receive four bouts for a total of ten full contact bouts!

“Our tournament last year was an amazing event that brought together kids from across the country. We are excited to host these teams this year and bring approximately seventy-five skaters and their families to Paducah,” said Barbie “Barba-Fett” head coach of West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers Junior League.

The West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers Junior Derby League is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that was founded in March of 2012. The team teaches the kids the sport of flat track roller derby while boosting skaters’ confidence and teaching them a ‘can do’ attitude. The skaters of the league practice twice a week, Saturday mornings 9 a.m. – 11 am and Wednesday nights 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at Kingsway Skateland.

West Kentucky Rockin’ Rollers Junior League is a proud member of the Junior Roller Derby Association.
