High school band director charged with third degree rape of student
HOPKINSVILLE, KY — A high school band director in Kentucky has been arrested after police say he abused his position to have sex with a student.
Hopkinsville High School Band Director Jordan Seth Peveler is accused meeting with a student at his home, giving her marijuana, and engaging in a sex act with her once she was under the influence. That incident happened in June 2017, when the girl was 16 years old, according to a warrant the Hopkinsville Police Department sent Local 6.
The warrant also alleges Peveler had sex with the girl in August of that year. He was still her band director at that time. The warrant says, as the girl’s band director, Peveler was “in a position of authority and special trust,” over her.
Peveler was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of third degree rape, third degree sodomy and second degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
