FDA warns e-cigarette companies about social media posts

(USA) — Any product containing nicotine needs to have that warning in their advertisements, including those using paid social media influencers. Federal regulators have found that several e-cigarette companies are not following that rule.

Four companies received warning letters from the FDA regarding their social media influencer posts. The FDA requires the posts to include the nicotine warning like other forms of advertising. The companies receiving these letters had posts from paid influencers that did not contain the warning.

The companies now have 15 business days to decide how they will address the FDA concerns.
