SUV crashes into Paducah restaurant, no one injured
PADUCAH — A man is facing charges after police say he crashed a SUV into a local restaurant.
Around 10 p.m. Sunday, a SUV crashed into the front of the Captain D’s restaurant just off Hinkleville Road in Paducah.
The restaurant is in the Kentucky Oaks Mall area next to Fazoli’s and across the street from Red Lobster.
Police say 22-year-old Davis Mills of Mayfield was driving his SUV at a high rate of speed on Hinkleville Road with no headlights on. Witnesses say he went around a barrier wall and into the opposite lanes.
The SUV hit the barrier wall and several traffic cones before Mills apparently lost control near the intersection of New Holt Road. The SUV jumped a curb, ran through the parking lot, and crashed into the dining area of Captain D’s.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the crash. Police say no customers were inside, and all employees were near the back of the store.
Mills was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and criminal mischief.
Police say Mills smelled of burned marijuana. Police say Mills admitted to smoking marijuana about an hour before the crash.
We are still working to find out when his first court appearance will be.
We have also reached out to the restaurant for an update.
