Carbondale police: missing 7-year-old girl found

7-year-old Patrice Dotson is reported missing in Carbondale, Illinois.

UPDATE: Patrice Dotson is back home with her family Tuesday. The 7-year-old girl has been released from Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

After the missing girl was found Tuesday, she was taken to the hospital to make sure she is in good health.

In an update shared at 4:15 p.m., the Carbondale Police Department said Patrice was treated and released from the hospital.

The police department thanked community members who volunteers in the search for the girl, businesses that donated items to help with search efforts and more than a dozen law enforcement agencies and others that responded.

Those agencies include the Carbondale Fire Department, Carbondale Building and Neighborhood Services, Carbondale Public Works, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the SIU Police Department, Illinois State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, SAR K-9 of Fairview Heights, the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency, the Jackson County 911 Office and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office.

UPDATE: Police say a 7-year-old Carbondale girl who was reported missing Monday night has been found and reunited with her family.

The child, 7-year-old Patrice Dotson, was reported missing Monday night. Tuesday afternoon, she was found and reunited with her family.

The news first came to Local 6 via volunteers who were part of the search effort. A short time later, the Carbondale Police Department sent out a news release with more details. The release says city employees found Patrice in the 1500 block of North Marion Street in Carbondale.

Patrice was reunited with her family, then taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale to make sure she is in good health.

Illinois State Police said in its missing person advisory that when Patrice went outside around 6 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Cherry Street, it was to look for her sister. The girl’s sister returned home that night, but Patrice did not. ISP and Carbondale police said Patrice has a mental development disability.

CARBONDALE, IL — Carbondale police are still looking for 7-year-old Patrice Dotson.

She is a 7-year-old girl who was last seen around 6:00 p.m. in the 600 block of West Cherry Street. 

Patrice went outside to look for her sister, the sister returned and Patrice did not.

Carbondale police have been searching for her all night into Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police have now activated a Missing Person Advisory to help in the search for Patrice.

She is 4-feet tall, 70 pounds with brown eyes and black braided hair. She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray, shorts, and pink shoes.

Patrice walks with a pronounced limp and has a large blemish on the left side of her nose. She is also sometimes non-verbal.
