Man charged in wife’s stabbing arraigned in Trigg County

TRIGG COUNTY, KY — A man accused of stabbing his wife multiple times pleaded not guilty to an assault charge Tuesday in Trigg County.

Rico Cavanaugh faces a charge of  first degree assault – domestic violence. Missy Cain Cavanaugh had to be taken to a Nashville, Tennessee, hospital after she was stabbed multiple times Saturday afternoon.

Family members told the Times Leader in Princeton that the woman was stabbed more than 20 times, and that it happened while the two were at Rico Cavanaugh’s mother’s home in Cadiz.

A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday, June 18.
