U.S. 60 widening project details to be shared at public meeting in Kevil

KEVIL, KY — A public meeting happening Tuesday night in Kevil offers the chance to learn more about the U.S. 60 widening project in eastern Ballard County.

The meeting is starts at 5 p.m. at the Ballard County Economic Center and Industrial Board Office in Kevil. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet scheduled the meeting, and cabinet personnel and consultants working on the project will be there to answer questions and listen to public comments.

The project is to widen U.S. 60 to four lanes from east of Humphrey Creek Bridge in Ballard County to just west of Kentucky 1154 in McCracken County. KYTC says widening the roadway will improve safety and mobility along that corridor of U.S. 60.

In a news release about the meeting, KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat said people who attend the meeting “can provide comments and suggestions that will help us shape the project as we move forward to eventual construction. We’d like to urge everyone with an interest in the project to attend this public meeting.”

“Whether you are a property owner or resident of the project area or if you are a commuter who regularly drives along this section of U.S. 60 in eastern Ballard County, we need your input to help make this a better project for everyone,” Poat said.

The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The office where it is being held is at 297 Kentucky Ave. in Kevil.

If you can’t attend the meeting but you have input you want to share, you can contact KYTC District 1 at 270-898-2431.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the cabinet has released two of the handouts people attending the meeting are being given. To read them for yourself, click here and click here.
