Kentucky Democrats send open records request for McCracken County judge executive’s emails

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY — The Kentucky Democratic Party is looking to get its hands on McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer’s emails, but the party is not explaining why.

The Kentucky Democrats filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the judge executive’s office asking for emails to or from Clymer between May 16 and June 16 this year.

Last week, Clymer announced his decision to change from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. He said the Democratic Party left him and no longer reflects his beliefs and views.

Local 6 contacted the party to ask why it filed the open records request. Kentucky Democratic Party spokeswoman Marisa McNee sent us this statement: “We’ve requested public records from McCracken County in accordance with Kentucky Open Records law. We are currently waiting for McCracken County to fulfill their duty under the law by providing the records requested in a timely manner.”

The party declined to provide any additional information about why the request was made, and did not answer any of our specific questions.

A local spokeswoman sent Local 6 copies of the open records request documents. To read those, click here and click here.
